Is Hair Straightener Good To Style Emo Hair With?

My sister has the same but in pink and she has buyed as new one now (a more expensive one just to go around bragging about it) but she says it was fine and worked well. My sister's hair kinda is sort of messy and straggly and entagled and a mess but she looked good when she straightened it.
