Is it okay to ask homebuilders for drywall?

I have a hole in the wall that needs a repair, and there is a house being built a block away. Do you think it's okay if I can ask the homebuilders for a piece of drywall so I can fix my wall? Also do they leave drywall or plaster out when they are not working, because maybe I can just take an extra piece. I won't steal if that's what you're thinking, but take the scraps like if they were throw out. Thanks
