If your logic had any sense, it would mean that we could simply take the top player in the NHL each year and award his team the Cup? No, the NHL playoffs are unique in sports, I think. Any team in the dance has a CHANCE to have a brilliant playoff and go all the way. That doesn't take anything away from any specific player, never has.
